New biodegradable materials – measurement of biodegradability as basis for product development

The basis for the development of new biodegradable products are the deep understanding of the material properties and the mechanism of biodegradation.

In the laboratories of BASF the existing methods for measuring biodegradation are applied and new more efficient and reliable methods are developed in connection with new digital tools. This results in the development of new innovative products, which show a very good performance in the respective applications and at the same time contribute to an improved sustainability profile based on the biodegradability.
