First public flight

The Antares is the first manned aircraft to be powered exclusively with hydrogen (H₂).

In its search for new ways to reduce fuel consumption and pollutant emissions from air traffic, the German Federal Ministry of Economics and Technology (Bundesministeriums für Wirtschaft und Technologie; BMWi) puts its hopes in fuel cell technology. The fuel cell system of the Antares is an advancement of quite known techniques in the area of the stationary electricity supply.
